Vacation 2014

This has been a long time coming post. And I'm writing it in the middle of my big ole summer course. Half way through!!
So anyhow, we were on vacation the last weekend of June through the beginning of July. We were with John's family and they have always spent their vacations at Edisto island in SC. Like the past 20+ years. It is so beautiful there and very different from the beaches in NC. There are Spanish moss trees, more wooded areas and dolphins! Waaay more pelicans too than sea gulls although both have the same effect if they fly over for too long! (cover your self and belongings!). The island is pretty small but you don't need more. It's perfect. So we got there Sunday night very late after us 3 attended a wedding.

Making a fast change in the car as a thunderstorm rolled through. Child is in my lap, we are not driving.

The first day there we were pumped about taking Ellie to the beach! Guess what? She screamed!! Well she screamed about her toes in the water, not about being at the beach.

Before water

During water

After water

Note the joy...

While we were there, we of course  went to the beach everyday. The weather was great! For meals we all took turns cooking except on the last night...

We also ate lunch out once so I got my oyster fix. The treasure of the ocean I say. If... They are picked well.

We also had to do the traditional bingo game and the traditional wait-in-line for ages game
Small price to pay for the possibilities of big winnings! Ha! John did win one game. For those who are unaware... Entertainment on the island is hard to come by so the bingo games presented by the lions club is big stuff. People wait in line for an hour to get in. And it's gambling as innocently as it ever was :) I love it. So does john. See above pic.

We really had a great trip as we always do and we just can't wait to go next year!!

More pictures of the week
