Mother's Day

Mother's day was wonderful as was last year. This is only my second mother's day as a mom but I've always enjoyed celebrating it. I've got a wonderful mother, aunts and grandma about whom I'm happy to sing praises! I'll be honest (don't hate me for this admission!) but I don't like shopping for gifts. I don't know why but unless I know exactly what to get, well its just fingers crossed someone likes it!

This year (click here for last year) John and I got up nice and early to leave the house at 8 (left at 8:30-ha!) and drove down to Cumming, GA to go to my cousin Ashley's church and see their sweet baby get dedicated. Once we made it in, Ellie was still with us as we didn't want to miss the actual dedication and she made it through the whole service! She waved her hands to the music, swatted at the person sitting beside us and ate some snacks to keep her quiet. She's not so much as a wiggler as she is a babbler. Anyways, it was a nice service, nice church. Its good to see another church service sometimes. Afterwards, we went back to Ashley and Drew's lovely new home and had lunch. Ellie cried through most of the second half of it but she was tired and everyone was understanding of her ill mood ;) We had to leave by 2 30 to be able to stop and see John's family too. We made it by a little after 5 and ate some more!

We got home by 8 and were pretty tired and very thankful. A full day of wonderful family. I missed seeing my own mother and grandmother and aunts but we will see them soon I believe.

On an ending note, let's be mindful of those for whom Mother's day is very bittersweet for all reasons you can imagine...mothers gone too soon, mothers who never got to be one, mothers/daughters with torn relationships, children who don't know their mothers. For as much happiness a day can bring, it can bring emotions as equally heavy and hard to deal with. For those, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I can't relate I can only pray for positive thoughts and brighter days ahead.

Until next time,
