Memorial Weekend

It was a fabulous weekend. So so wonderful. And it was nice to get back to NC. It really was. Let's rewind a minute...

I had time off starting on Thursday. Something was going on that day but of course I can't remember. Oh well. On Friday I caught up on house chores, playing with Ellie and preparing for our trip. On Saturday, we left around 10 am (only a hour and half later than I wanted but hey. I might add that I prepared and packed the night before but whatevs. It could have been later. After John dropped off the dogs we headed north. But first! Trip pictures to aggravate John!

We arrived at my parent's house that evening to my brother and his wonderful fiancĂ© Sarah already there.  We had a nice dinner compliments of my dad and just enjoyed the company outside. My parents have quite the hang out spot now in their backyard.

On Sunday we went to the river and Ellie had her first boat ride. Conclusion? HATED the lifejacket, actually seemed to like the boat. My cousins Roxie and Ruthie were there to help keep her comfortable while I slithered up to the front of the boat for some needed sunshine on myself. We did't stay long but it was still nice. I'm not much of a stay outside all day person so an hour or two out there was fine by me.

That night my dad cooked up some steaks and we had my aunt and uncle there as well as neighbors. It was really great, complete with s'mores!! I was SO full but made an exception to stuff down some s'mores.

Ellie enjoyed being the center of attention the quick full day + one half day we were there. It makes my heart sing as always to see her so loved and so happy.

We came home Sunday and so enjoyed the time away. Hopefully we will see you again in July?? Here's hoping! Also a longer stay would be nice so we can see more family and friends...aaand shout out to my cousin Taylor if you are reading this! Congratulations on an upcoming wedding!! Weddings all around in the family! Or just two, but still exciting!!!!
