I'll get right to it-I'm going to start a little series called "Fun in Greenville" here and on Instagram (both accounts of @BrittanyhughesSC and @sweethughesblog) because you never know who is going to get what out of these posts.
The series will be dedicated to mostly child-friendly things to do around the Upstate of South Carolina. The reasons being that:
- Sometimes it can be a little harder to figure out what's appropriate for kids of younger (or older) ages unless you go yourself.
- Maybe you've considered something but are unsure of what a particular place offers.
- Most of all-new discoveries! We are all about keeping ourselves and children entertained so here you go! Take a little and leave a little from what I write about here and what you see in pictures.
Location: Right at downtown Greenville, beside the main library. Parking is meh because you are parking also where the theatre and libraries are.
Offers: A LOT. It's 3 floors of some really neat activities which vary from adult assisted, independent things so staff assisted. Also there is this crazy jungle gym thing right in the middle of the museum that kids are all playing in (think McDonalds play place x 100).
Ages: All. However for the littlest (0-2 years) it is OK. I'm not sure what you would expect for catering to this age group though. On each floor there is a dedicated area to toddlers/preschoolers and even babies who are scooting and/or sitting up. Ellie liked the farm area (on 2nd floor I believe) and the water area (3rd?) the best. Kids really can play pretty independently here just really needed supervision with interactions with other kids and of course making sure they don't run away. Duh.
What I learned: Not too expensive which is always a +. Kids (1-15) $9 and adults $10. We went on Saturday which was also rainy aaaaand you can guess what that was like. Pretty chaotic, like I won't be doing that again chaotic. I would highly recommend the morning times and not a Saturday if at all possible. Set aside plenty of time to see it all and let kids be free. We had 2 hours I believe and it wasn't quite enough and that was just with one small toddler.
Here is the link to their website with news about upcoming special events too! Children's Museum of the Upstate
