November Drop-In

Hello and Happy Saturday! Who all is watching the big UNC vs Clemson game tonight? Once upon a time I never even knew the rules of football or how its played but ever since I meet John that has all changed. So don't wonder too hard about what we will up to tonight. But since I love peace in my house...GO TIGERS!

Football aside, today is apparently the day to play catch up on blogging. Did you see my previous post? I wrote it in the middle of November and just now saw it which just gets me (in a silly, superficial, this-isn't-a-real-problem-kinda-way) because a) I'd like to think I can be somewhat consistent and write more often than once a month and b) it's December which makes October seem even farther away! Moving on...to carry on in the style of throw backs, this post is a catch all for last few weeks of November.

She loves some leaves

The end of November brings to mind 3 things: houses, work and Thanksgiving.

1) House. Remember when I mentioned a few blog posts back (or was that instagram?) that John and I put our house on the market, but we weren't looking too hard because we wanted to sell our home first? Lies I say! As it were, we found a lovely home back in August and just eye balled it a lot, toured it once our was for sale and that just sealed the deal for how much we wanted it. We looked at other homes but nothing really compared. This particular home had been on the market for quite a while (all of us waiting for a price drop?) and the price decreasing ever so slowly. Suddenly a week after we tour it + fall in looove with it, there is a open house and John and I freak out a little. We decided to go and see if there were others interested around and why yes there were. As were leaving and expressing how interested we were indeed with this home, another family was waiting to chat up the realtor. Ugh. We realized we were going to have to act fast if we wanted this home and it felt soo right for us! We got our stuff together to make an offer the next day. Next day: offer made. News? There was one ahead of us. So cue nervous stomachs and waiting game. Meanwhile I'm trying to rest before my next night shift and of course CAN'T, so in the end the owners accept ours. Fast-forward through more kinks and TONS of paper work (which John so generously took charge of, cuz I don't do dat stuff) and now we are "supposed" to close in 2 weeks. There are of course things that can come up again and repairs the owners have to complete but that is the goal at least! I can't wait to show you all a picture. It really is a wonderful home, whether it be ours or not. And don't let the good spirit fool you, if we lose this house I'd be seriously disappointed. It is just a house but as John has said to calm me down before, "It's our house".

Work. Anyone tired of my gripping about work? You are? Good me too! and there be light at that tunnel! I have officially switched to day shift AND to a rehabilitation unit!!! Cue all the happy the faces. Days are a change of life. Very busy but whatevs. I like living among the normal workers and being at home (sometimes) for Ellie's bedtime. Some nights I don't make it in time but I knew that was a possibility. I learned a lesson with working too many shifts in row because I get anxious when I don't see her for more than a day in a row and when I work late, I don't see her. I can still spend time with John which is great but moms need to see their babies too. Amen?

Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving. I love November. Doesn't it seem like November just flies by??? Is that why I'm writing this in December? Anyway, Thursday was my only day off that week (by choice!) and we went to Jo-Jo's to eat with all of John's family which is always nice. We had a most delicious meal and great fellowship with family. But that night I had to put myself to bed early because I got so tired...and grouchy. But the day was nice!  By the way, anyone else hoping that one day Thanksgiving will be respected again and not disregarded so and people can't wait for Christmas? I love Christmas too but it (people) just seem to try to push it earlier and earlier. Waiting is part of the fun and anticipation!

That's all for now. Have a good night. See you soon! AND............GO TIGERS!!!!
