I left off yapping about the end of classrooms and entrance into the "real world" (but not) of nursing. The ER has been interesting...yes. Interesting. Interesting in all aspects. Different too. If you aren't in the critical care area, for the most part you see some common complaints over and over. I should add that I am NOT in critical. It's better this way, believe you me. I went to that side for about 2 hours and about had a panic attack so safe to say we will work our sweet way towards that. I just can't take the urgency that I have made that area to have since I have been there. I need some experience first then I'd love to come back to it when I know what I'm doing. This experience has thus far made me feel more comfortable with patient care all the way through and I am very grateful to have worked with some wonderful people. 99% of the people at this hospital are so kind and accommodating. Can I take you all with me to the real world? That'd be nice. Anyhow, Graduation is in 2 weeks and I have 2 shifts at the hospital left. Let's end on a positive note. Holler.
I know how you feel Ellie... Jailbreak!
And to what all bloggers blog about: holidays.
We spent Thanksgiving at John's grandmothers (Jo-Jo, as in Josephine, as in Ellie's namesake) and had a beautiful, cozy time as always. I adore John's family and see them as my own. They remind me a lot of my family actually. We ate all the goodness and hung out together. Thankful to the highest for my family, health (and more importantly their health) and each day. I don't act as grateful as I should be and I throw my fair share of pity parties (ugh), but Lord knows I have a blessed life with no wants and the most lovely family I could imagine. Say no more.
A few days before Thanksgiving, Little Ellie was acting fussy and all very tired at the same time. I knew something wasn't right and she began to run a high fever (103 F). We were told to take her to the ER but I DID NOT want to go there..Fortunately there is an after hours children's clinic in Greenville and we got there 10 mins before opening. Turns out the baby had a UTI and she got put on antibiotics I never would have suspected it, but glad there was an explanation and no ER visit. We got home late and Ellie was such a trooper and acting more happy already. A week later and she is more lively than ever and a joy as always. No parent wants to see their baby sick and miserable and we are no exceptions. We are just doing what we can to prevent an infection from coming back!
So anyhow, we are looking forward to Christmas and the sweet, warm feeling it brings (to most) as well as some awesome church programs throughout the month. Hope everyone is doing well and had a great thanksgiving together. Love,
us.
I love the update. Congrats on finishing school very soon. I know you are ready! Glad Ellie is okay now. I know that was a bit scary . Tell Ellie what a cute hat she's wearing. :)
